Senior Tax Accountant (CPA)

About the Opportunity

Ledgent Finance & Accounting is partnering with a rapidly growing public accounting firm seeking a Senior Tax Accountant (CPA) to join its expanding tax team. The ideal candidate will have recent experience preparing complex individual tax returns, extensive 1040 expertise, and a strong background in both individual and business taxation within a public accounting setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review complex federal and state tax returns for:
    • Individuals
    • Partnerships
    • S-Corporations
    • C-Corporations
    • Trusts and Estates
    • Multi-state tax filings
  • Provide advanced tax planning, tax research, and strategic consulting services to clients.
  • Identify tax-saving opportunities and assist clients with optimizing their tax positions.
  • Review tax returns prepared by junior staff and provide mentorship, coaching, and technical guidance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to ensure accurate and timely tax compliance.
  • Participate in client meetings and provide professional recommendations regarding tax matters.

Qualifications

  • Active CPA license required.
  • 5+ years of tax preparation and tax planning experience in a public accounting environment.
  • Strong and recent experience with complex individual tax returns and extensive 1040 preparation.
  • Experience preparing both business and individual tax returns.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Ability to work onsite in Marietta four days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • International tax exposure.
  • Previous full-cycle accounting or bookkeeping experience.
  • Experience working with clients across diverse industries and business structures.
  • Experience mentoring or reviewing the work of junior tax professionals.

Software Experience

  • UltraTax
  • QuickBooks
  • SAP (preferred)
